Last night I had to the opportunity to photograph Congressman Mike Pence on assignment for the Indiana Daily Student as he spoke to College Republicans and members of the community in the IMU. Pence is running for governor as Indiana and claims that although Mitch Daniels is doing a fantastic job, he can do it better.

This was my first ever Republican event, and they took about as many shots at the Left as I thought they might (a lot). But cheap shots aside, Congressman Pence spoke about Indiana’s economy, tuition rates and in a rare (probably planned) candid moment Pence reminisced about childhood heroes like JFK and MLK jr.

While I didn’t find the event as enthralling as the girl who passed out in the back of the room, it was nice to meet a member of Congress and hear his ideas about Indiana’s future.
